The road to home finance has been a long one for the Kingdom, but with its highly anticipated mortgage law edging ever closer to ratification, would-be homeowners and financial institutions are gearing up for a new era of opportunity.
With the announcement this year of a US$66.7 billion initiative to address the demand-supply imbalance in the Kingdom’s housing market, social infrastructure spend is topping the Government agenda as it focuses on building affordable homes for the future.
The South-East Asian island has seen a number of distinctive developments come to fruition over the past few years as the country further establishes itself.
The Government of Abu Dhabi has unveiled a master plan for the Baniyas-South Wathba area.
The project aims to create a sustainable and complete community for the 69,000 residents living in the area.
Covering the areas of Baniyas, South Wathba and Al Nahda, one of the oldest Emirati communities in the UAE, the Baniyas-South Wathba Master Plan was developed by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), in coordination with Abu Dhabi Municipality and other key stakeholders.
The plan will see the development of a hierarchy of district, neighbourhood and local centres to provide services for existing and future residents.
The master plan also involves the allocation of new plots for Emirati housing, while existing homes will be renovated.
“The successful integration of these communities with the emerging Metropolitan Area is a key focus of our Revitalization Master Plan and an important precondition for the successful realization of Vision 2030,” the UPC said.
