UAE-based developer of shopping malls together with hotels and mixed-use community projects Majid Al Futtaim Properties has said the Fujairah City Centre is on track for opening in early 2012.
The Dhs400-million shopping mall is being developed in partnership with the government-owned Fujairah Investment Establishment.
Located on the intersection of the new Fujairah-Dubai highway and the existing Masafi Highway at the entrance to Fujairah City, the mall has been designed to cater to the immediate needs and projected growth of the Emirate’s community and would include Fujairah’s largest Carrefour hypermarket and several new brands to the region.
It has a gross leasable area of 34,000 square metres, with 100 of total 105 retail outlets confirmed to-date.
Key construction milestones achieved include the completion of the mall’s roof and external concrete.
The developer is targeting a Gold LEED rating for the Fujairah City Centre according to the USGBC Green Building Guidelines.
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works are progressing with underground drainage systems installed, the firm said.
The dedicated electrical substation to enable Federal Electricity & Water Association (FEWA) to energize the mall electrical systems will be installed in December as planned.
